Where in SR3, music is enjoyable to listen, some are action-inspiring, in SRIV, the game plays and feels better without any music at all. Music, either the radio station tracks or the game music itself, has also weakened a bit here. While superpowers are awesome to have, players may feel bored quickly and may question what's the purpose of some missions where the superpowers are turned off. I'll be honest, I'm much more interested in SR2 that I am in SRIV after playing and completing SRIV. The conversations weren't as interesting or funny like it was in SR3 if anything, some missions kind of reminded players of the more interesting events that happened prior to SRIV especially Saints Row 2. The game starts off great, with the potential to reveal more and while it does reveal some old-school type of missions, it wasn't enough to cover that this is a dull game less thought out than SR3. To screw with the antagonist, all it requires was creating mayhem. I don't mind the same city but I do mind how the game doesn't store any surprises like it did with SR3. Didn't worry about story or critics, just said screw it and made it fun. The creators seemed to go "Ok, what makes a game fun?" And just did that. I don't mean haircut or clothes, I mean start a white man and change to a Hispanic Woman, and no one bats an eye.
Oh, whip out a tentacle bat and knock some one across the city block and then switch to super speed and run up the side of a building? I don't know what is more fun, the weapons or the Super Powers! And the side stuff like the breaking of the simulation is a nice addition to break up the general mayhem.
So over the top! The graphics work well, the DLC is fun and worth it if you get this game cheap(13$ on PSN Sale) The gameplay, as insane as the game is, works well. Oh, GTA is too serious, or the storyline bores you? SR IV is the exact opposite and in all the best ways. If you want fun and nothing but fun, this is it. How to describe this game? It forgets your typical storyline and just goes for all out fun.
